Puerto Banus Guide
Puerto Banus is located on the west side of Marbella, just before you get to San Pedro de Alcantara. The ‘Jewel of the Costa del Sol‘, it’s very much the place to see and be seen, to hang out among fabulous luxury yachts and admire the awesome cars while having a drink or a meal in one of the many restaurants and outdoor bars. Set against a backdrop of mountains rising above the sparkling Mediterranean sea, it’s like a picture-postcard view.
Since its construction, about 40 or so years ago, the port has grown progressively and now includes a casino, a shopping centre (El Corte Ingles), a marine observatory and a cinema that shows films in original versions – as well, of course, as a handful of excellent hotels. The Puerto Banus nightlife is packed with great restaurants, outdoor bars, piano clubs, pubs and discos.
During the day the town is the perfect place for anyone who loves shopping, with many well-known and exclusive brands in addition to small shops and original boutiques. Not only are there boutiques and luxury designers, every Saturday morning you can visit the colourful flea market where you can find all kinds of bargains.
If you want to see the port from the sea, you can also take one of the many boat trips that depart regularly from the main quay. From the sea you can see beaches either side of Puerto Banus, these are well-known because of their safety and cleanliness – as well as their bouncing beach clubs.
